Regenexx® Stem Cell and Blood Platelet Procedures
Our office has recently installed a state of the art Regenexx lab for processing of autologous (patient’s own) platelets and stem cells for regenerative injections. This enables us to make very high concentration acellular (no white or red cells) platelet rich plasma (Regenexx SCP/PRP) , concentrate bone marrow to isolate high levels of stem cells (Regenexx SD/BMC), and process fat from lipoaspiration (Regenexx AD).
We are the only facility in New England offering Regenexx cell based treatments. All of these can be injected into damaged spinal and extremity joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and around nerves to stimulate growth, repair and regeneration. The use of these cell-based regenerative treatments has become very common in national and international professional sports medicine, with many players in football, baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, skiing, etc. receiving treatment.
Regenexx PL-Disc offers an alternative to steroid epidurals and spine surgery for sciatica, radiculopathy, and spinal stenosis.
We are now able to offer a cutting-edge non-surgical alternative for carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow (cubital tunnel), and other nerve entrapment syndromes. The treatment involves releasing the nerve from its adhesions and compression by forcing fluid between the nerve and its restrictors via ultrasound guided injection. It is called neuroplasty or hydro-dissection and has a very high success rate as well as a low complication rate, making it a first choice when surgery is being considered. Adding Regenexx PL to the injection also helps heal the damaged nerve.
We offer diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound for the evaluation and treatment of tendon, ligament, joint, bursa, and peripheral nerve diagnosis and treatment.
Ultrasound offers a rapid, inexpensive, and painless way to very accurately (often 8x more accurate than MRI!) diagnosis such conditions as:
- Rotator Cuff Tears
- Tennis Elbow
- Cubital and Carpal Tunnel Syndromes
- Hip Bursitis/Tendinitis
- Hamstring Tears
- Patellar and Achilles Tendinitis
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Ligament Sprains and Muscle Tears.
It is the standard of care in orthopedic diagnosis in Europe, Canada, and in many large US urban medical centers.
We’re very excited not only at its diagnostic capabilities, but also for its use to accurate inject nerves, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints under direct ultrasound guidance.
The “miss rate” for blind injections is incredibly high (55-74% in the shoulder!), and with ultrasound guidance the miss rate goes down to 0%!!
